Real Audit™ is a multimedia interactive financial auditing simulation. The full version has all of the core features including the interactive audit program, the auditor's virtual desk, and the multiple choice hypertext interactive dialoguing engine (McHide). The simulation includes planning the audit engagement, accounts receivable, fixed assets, accounts payable, inventory, and completin the audit .
The full version challenges students to locate needed audit evidence, converse with the client using the multiple choice dialoguing engine, select and use the appropriate auditing procedures, and negotiate adjustments with the controller. Success in dealing with the client and properly obtaining the evidence will affect the outcome of the simulated audit (which can range from being promoted to being fired).
The full version has been successfully employed in both undergraduate and graduate auditing classes. It is also possible to start with the lite version, which does not include accounts payable and inventory, and upgrade to the full version later.
